minutes from this weeks craft meeting

yesterdays art club went well. despite a rather bizarre version of chicken katsu curry that didnt seem to actually involve curry but had a big dollup of what tasted like english mustard in the corner of the box, a good few hours with the delightful clara and a box of pens and origami paper later we had well and truly made a good pile of organised mess, combined with letter stamped feet and donna summer playing on radio 2.
the theme of the night seemed to be deformed camels and the open sea. as good a place to start as any. many an origami bird was made by clare for the eventual completion of a rather pretty mobile while i got engrossed in doing illuminated lettering depicting noteworthy moments of our friendship so far. G is for glue, J is for jamie lidell (twice), F is for flower markets, B is for birthday mini eggs...

why does it always happen...

just when you really NEED something good to happen and even the weather seems to agree that its about time and joins in with your collective lifting of spirit, that just at the most opportune time, the great hand of sod comes and smites you with his law.
not only that but then heavens open and decide that they werent actually on your side, but pausing for comic effect as if the initial disappointment was quite evidently not going to be enough to make you officially class it as a bad day. not till youre cold and damp and miserable can their work be done.
really makes you wonder. its not like i ask much. or maybe i do. maybe i am always asking too much and this is natures way of telling me to shut the fuck up.

apparently i shouldnt take it as a sign, theres a reason for all these things. but im fucking stumped as to what that could be.

it better be bloody good, thats all i know.

pushing daisies

after speaking to a few people of late, ive realised how many of my friends haven't seen or heard of the new show called pushing daisies that has just finished the first season on ITV1. this seems a real shame, as it was not only one of my favourite programmes that has been on for years, but itll be a while now until season 2 is on our screens and so ready for people to pick up on.
i would throroughly recommend people to buy the season 1 box set. amazingly, its a show that i could watch over and over again, as theres so much attention to detail in the writing and the way its shot, that you discover a little something new each and every time...

saw this posted on the radiohead dead air space blog, but thought itd be worth reposting for those who dont look through their blog site regularly. have a look and decide what you think about the issue of net neutrality and what the future that telecommunications networks are proposing could mean for your life. i know i dont know the whole deal, but even the thought of the internet losing its open content is a little unnerving to say the least. in the words of congressman ed markey "what did the telephone companies have to do with inventing the internet... nothing". quite frankly, if the phone companies want the internet to act more like television, then im not encouraged by that. the quality of tv these days is so poor that i hardly watch it anymore. please dont do that to my internet too.
